Alleged impaired driver strikes a parked vehicle and a street light

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release Just after midnight Tuesday, Police received a 911 call advising of a motor vehicle accident in the 1500 Block of 6th street. A vehicle travelling southbound struck a parked vehicle and a street light in the area. Both the operator of the vehicle and the passenger were transported to the Brandon Regional Health Centre with injuries. The 28-year-old driver from Brandon, who has since been released from Hospital, has been charged with Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm and Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm. He is scheduled to appear in Court later this month. The passenger, a 34-year-old Brandon man, remains in Hospital. This incident is still under investigation.

Two female youths allegedly steal vehicle

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 1:59 a.m., Police stopped a vehicle after observing it travelling slowly on Maryland Ave with no lights on. Two female youths were located in the vehicle and admitted to stealing it after finding the vehicle left unlocked with the keys in it. The two youths, a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old both from Brandon, were charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and released to appear in Court in August.

High winds in Wasagaming topple trees in the area

High winds in the Clear Lake area of Riding Mountain National Park caused destruction Sunday, toppling trees in the area. This large tree came to a rest near the intersection of Mooswa Dr. And Ta-Wa-Pit Dr. The tree fell completely across Ta-Wa-Pit Dr. and forced that section of the road to be closed. Brandon youth arrested after allegedly breaking into a business compound

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release A 14-year old Brandon youth was arrested early this morning at 2:30 AM after he broke-in to a business compound in the 300 Block of Park Avenue East. When arrested the youth also had in his possession several other stolen items including jewelry, guitar, and break-in tools. He was lodged at the Brandon Correctional Center, then released in the morning to appear in court on August 13, 2018 to be charged with break and enter, possession of break-in tools and possession of stolen property.

Armed and barricaded incident leads to charges for a number of alleged weapon offences

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Just prior to 7:00 PM Friday night a 41-year old Brandon man was involved in an armed and barricaded incident in the 0 hundred Block of 9th Street North. Police were called to the scene after being notified that the man had a gun and indicated that he would shoot people. Police responded utilizing the Tactical Response Unit and the man was arrested without incident just prior to 11:00 PM. An assault rifle was located within the residence. The male, was wanted for parole violations and will also be charged with several weapons offences including possession of a stolen rifle, possess a weapon dangerous, unauthorized possession of a firearm. He remains in custody at the Brandon Correctional Center.
