Easter Sunday Crash Takes out Traffic Light

Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Brandon Police Service responded to the intersection of 10th St and Princess Ave for a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon. The Easter Sunday crash led to a traffic light being struck and heavily damaged. It appeared that nobody left the scene in ambulances. Accel Towing & Transport was tasked with cleaning up the wreck.

Youth accused of assaulting group home worker

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 2:15 p.m. Saturday, police attended to the downtown area of the city in relation to a reported disturbance. A female youth who is a resident of a group home in Brandon was found to be in a confrontation with one of the support staff from the home. Police investigation found that the youth had assaulted the worker just prior by pulling her hair and threatening to stab the staff member, and also the previous evening had damaged the staff member’s car by throwing rocks against it. The youth was charged with Assault, Uttering Threats, and Mischief to Property, and was released back to staff once she was processed at BPS.

Charges laid after police find loaded sawed-off .22 caliber rifle in stolen vehicle

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Friday evening around 7 p.m., a 20 year old female and 21 year old male who are both residents of Brandon, were arrested in possession of a vehicle reported stolen earlier in the week, after the vehicle was stopped in the east end of Brandon. Also found in the suspect’s possession was a loaded sawed-off .22 caliber rifle and ammunition. Both suspects are charged with possession of property obtained by crime and firearms offences. They were lodged at BCC to be remanded today.

Women face shoplifting charges in separate incidents

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Theft under $5000 (shoplifting): On March 5, 2019, police received a shoplifting complaint from a business in the 100’ block of Victoria Ave East. On April 18, 2019, police located a 26 year old Brandon woman who was responsible for the theft. She was arrested and released for court on June 20, 2019. Theft under $5000 (shoplifting): On April 17, 2019, police received a complaint of a theft from a business in the 900’ block of Victoria Ave. On April 18, 2019, police located the 32 year old Brandon woman who was responsible for the theft. She was arrested and released for court on June 13, 2019.

Complaint leads to impaired driving charge

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On April 17, 2019, at 9:34am police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver on highway 1 heading into Brandon. The vehicle was stopped by police in the 1900’ block of 18th Street north and the driver was in fact found to be impaired. He was arrested and provided samples of his breath which were more than double the legal limit. He was released for court on April 25, 2019.
