Attempted Purse Snatching and a Brandon Teen Wanted for Vehicle Theft

Source:  Brandon Police Media Release Stolen Vehicle A 15-year old male youth is wanted in connection with the theft of a vehicle in the 400 block of 15th Street. An individual contacted Police at 6:13 am saying his 2009 red GMC Acadia (license plate: HBY 103) had been stolen from in front of his residence. Thirty-six minutes later Police also received a report of the same vehicle being involved in a gas and dash from a service station in the 1800-block of Middleton Avenue. Police were able to view video surveillance, at the gas station, and identify the teen as a result. In addition to theft of a vehicle, the youth is also wanted for theft of gas.   Attempted Purse Snatching Brandon Police are looking for three female youths, who attempted to grab a woman's purse, in an incident in the 800 block of Rosser Ave. Police say an officer noticed the females running from a business at approximately 4:34 pm on Wednesday afternoon. The suspects were described as Caucasian in appearance and about 15 years of age. They were wearing bright colored pants and one female had short brown hair. Dakota Nation Winterfest Gets Underway Today

The Dakota Nation Winterfest gets underway today inside the Keystone Centre for what organizers are calling the largest event in it's history. Billed as “the largest Indigenous sport and cultural event of its kind all under one roof” the 3-day event will bring participants from all over Canada and the United States. Hockey Coordinator, Pierre McKay tells bdnmb.ca that this year they have a record high 77 teams participating in 10 divisions, including teams from Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Alberta. In total Pierre said that 134 games will be played over the 3-days. Other events scheduled throughout the weekend include a volleyball tournament, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, strongman competition, talent show, monster bingo and a Pow Wow. Former Calgary Flame great, Thereon Fleury will be on-hand Friday evening for a special speaking engagement starting at 6:30 inside the Amphitheater.

Brandon Police Request Assistance Identifying Robbery Suspect

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release The Brandon Police Service is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the suspect in a Robbery that occurred on January 12th 2017. At 4:30pm on January 12th 2017, officers attended to an alarm at a Brandon business in the 1600 block of Princess Avenue. A male suspect entered the store with his face covered and had a large knife in his pocket. The suspect demanded and was given a quantity of cash. The suspect fled the store prior to police arrival. The suspect described as a tall male, aboriginal in appearance, wearing a grey winter jacket, grey hooded sweater, black pants and a black and white scarf. A photo from the surveillance camera is attached showing the suspect that committed this offence. Brandon Youth Arrested Following Incident With Loaded .22 Calibre Rifle

A Brandon youth has been arrested after he threatened his parents with a loaded .22 calibre rifle in an incident in Brandon on Saturday evening. Police say they responded to a report of an assault with a weapon, in the south end of Brandon, where it was also determined that the youth had also used the rifle in an attempt to choke his parents during the assault. He was charged with a variety of offenses including Point a Firearm x 2, Utter Threats, Assault with a Weapon x 2, Breach of Court Order, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Overcoming Resistance to commit an indictable offence x 2.
