The sooner we get the 6th team, the better!  Peak Performance had a solid 14 guys last season and with more wanting to join this Organization, fitness club Owner and GM Rodman Batson says this year he might just build 2 teams, the question remains, will the 2nd team be in Div 1 or Div 2? Who's the best team in Brandon?  The Pitbulls are the defending Champions, and are in talks with Pet Valu on naming rights this year.  With a new general manager Dustin Ferland, getting the team together, they opted to sign up a new netminder Terry Spence. "Might as well just give us the Keg now" he says. lol. The North Stars were happy to hear Pitbulls starting goalie last year became available, signing up Derrick Genaille as their starter for this season.  "Watching him play last year and helping the Pitbulls win the Keg with an injured arm in net was impressive"  He's got the talent and with new speed on the team picking up free agent Shaun Theiessen this year, we have a good chance of getting our names on the Keg this season". If your a free agent, or gm looking to put a team in, contact Brian by texting 306-421-2000, registration can be done online at www.nextplay.ca and team deposits can be made in person.  $250.00 with the remaining $500 to be made into 2 more monthly payments.

Softball MB Provincials Returning to Brandon

There will be another high calibre softball event held in Brandon in the summer of 2018. Softball Manitoba has awarded the 2018 U19 ‘A’ Girls’ Championship to Brandon, with the event to be held July 19-22 at the Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex. The U19 category was re-introduced by Softball Canada at their Annual General Meeting in November of 2016, replacing the U18 Division, and the 2018 season will mark its’ return to the playing field. The Westman Magic, under the guidance of Coach Bev Neufeld, will be the host for the eight-team event. In addition to a new (old) age group, the 2018 event will also feature the introduction of a four-day Provincial Championship by Softball Manitoba. The eight-team Championship will include a full round-robin on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a playoff round to follow on Sunday. This will guarantee that there will be a gold medal game on the final day. In addition to determining the Provincial Champion, the Softball Manitoba U19 ‘A’ Girls’ Championship will determine the teams that will represent Manitoba at the Softball Canada U19 Championship in Surrey, British Columbia and the Western Canadian U19 Championship to be held in Saskatchewan. The Softball Manitoba U19 ‘A’ Girls’ Championship will be co-hosted by the Westman Softball Association, the Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex Committee and the Westman Softball Umpires’ Association.
