BRANDON – The buzz is building towards the start of another exciting season on campus for the Brandon University Bobcats. Season ticket packages are now on sale with special incentives in store for Bobcat supporters. QUICK FACTS: Brandon's best sports value. "Our community partners have really stepped up to the plate to give season ticket holders even more bang for their buck," said Athletic Director Russ Paddock. BU Athletics, in conjunction with 12 participating partners, are pleased to unveil a new Rewards Card for all 2017-18 season ticket holders. Each card is good for discounts and special offers from the following Rewards Card Partners: Smitty's Sportsline Lounge; Joe Beeverz Bar & Grill; Brandon Source Sports; two farm kids Natural Foods; Pita Pit; A&W; Pantages Salon and Spa; Pharmasave; Montana's; NAPA AUTOPRO West and South End Service; Booster Juice and Taco Time. Season ticket holders also receive a complimentary Bobcat Nation t-shirt with their purchase. There are even better deals in store for fans that act fast. The first 200 season ticket holders will be treated to a series of other outstanding offers including a $25 gift certificate from Smitty's Sportsline Lounge, a one-time 10 per cent off coupon from Brandon's Heritage Coop, a free XL four topping pizza from Pizza Hotline and a 2-for-1 green fee at Shilo Country Club. The special coupon offer does not apply to youth season tickets. Fans can pick up their season tickets from the front desk of the Healthy Living Centre, with the same outstanding deal as last season. Adult season passes are $100; seniors, BU staff, faculty and alumni pay $75 while youth (age 14-17) are $50. Season passes bring fans 40 exciting basketball and volleyball games through 2017–18, which is amazing value. Kids 13-and-under can catch all Bobcat home games for free, as can all current BU students. All the action gets underway on October 27 when the Bobcat volleyball teams welcome the Saskatchewan Huskies for their Canada West home opener. The BU basketball teams hit the floor for the first time at the HLC on November 3 against the Victoria Vikes. North Central Hockey League adds one team for 17/18

The North Central Hockey League has grown by one team, as the Shoal Lake Eagle were accepted back into the league, at the league’s annual meeting yesterday.  All 8 teams who participated in the league last season will return for 20217/18.  The league will consist of one division with each team playing a home-and-home series against each of the other teams for a 16-game schedule.  Games are expected to begin the 2nd week of November.  A team from The Pas had also applied to join the league and their application was voted down by league representatives.

Boston Bruins alumni team to play charity game in Shilo

Calling all bruins fans, the Boston Bruins greats of the past will be in Shilo on Thursday, November the 30th to play a charity game against the Shilo Stags. Shilo Minor Hockey is putting on the event and game time is 6:00 pm at the Gunner Arena in Shilo. The Bruins Alumni have been giving back for more than 39 years and have raised more than $5 million for charities. General admission tickets are $40. For ticket information please see poster below. RCMP believe Virden fire deliberately set, request assistance

Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba On Saturday, September 23, 2017, at approximately 05:45 am, the Virden RCMP received a report of a structure fire located on 7th Avenue in Virden. The fire began in one building and spread to two others before being brought under control. Three buildings suffered extensive damage. RCMP believe the fire to be deliberately set. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Virden RCMP at 204-748-2046 or call Manitoba Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, submit a secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com or text “TIPMAN” plus your message to CRIMES (274637). The Westman RCMP, Brandon Major Crimes Unit and the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.
