Noah Geekie Announces Commitment to Play Baseball at Emporia State University

Noah Geekie, from Strathclair MB, has committed to play college baseball at Emporia State University. The Emporia State University Hornets, (Emporia, Kansas) participate in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association. Geekie spent this past season with the Barton Cougars where he appeared in 21 games, finishing with a .346 batting average.  He selected Emporia State University to continue his collegiate baseball career for a number or reasons including both their baseball and educational programs. "I chose Emporia because ever since they began recruiting me in the fall, they really expressed a lot of interest and it feels like I can develop a ton with their coaching staff and the way they approach things" said Geekie. "They also are well-known in the US for their education program so it’s really good on the academic side as well" he continued. All in all it just feels like the right fit for me and I can’t wait for the next 3 years at ESU. The 6'3", 188lb Geekie intends to play both outfield and pitch at Emporia, which was also a factor when it came down to selecting a school. In addition to using the field/batting cage in town, he has spent this summer training (5-6 days a week) in the family's home gym with his brothers (Morgan and Conor). "Specifically I need to work on throwing harder on the mound, be able to be dominant with all three pitches, faster on the bases, and being able to hit all over the field (extra base hits, home runs, etc." he said about what he feels he needs to work on to be successful at the next level.
