The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks have three more player signings to announce, as we get closer to the 2020 Expedition League season. Joining the club for our second season in Brandon is; Blake Kaplan, Right Handed Pitcher, Chicago State University Sophomore Class, 6’2, 220 lbs from Las Vegas, NV Gabe Rincones, Outfielder, Saint Petersburg College Freshman Class, 6’4, 225 lbs from Tampa Bay, FL Noah Farmer, Right Handed Pitcher, Enterprise State College Sophomore Class, 6’4, 195 lbs from Nashville, TN Extra Base Hits: The 2020 schedule will be released very soon. College Student Internships are available with the team, resumes are being accepted now. 2020 Prairie Regional Synchronized Skating Championships

Killarney Figure Skating Club on behalf of Skate Canada Manitoba Presents: The 2020 Prairie Regional Synchronized Skating Championships. [Killarney, Manitoba] – Killarney Figure Skating Club and Skate Canada Manitoba will present the 2020 Prairie Regional Synchronized Skating Championships, taking place at The Shamrock Centre on February 1st-2nd, and featuring over 300 synchronized skaters and 29 teams from across Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The Killarney Figure Skating Club is proud to bring The Prairie Regional Synchronized Skating Championships to Killarney for the second time in the past five years. This synchronized skating competition will feature a wide range of skaters from beginner to adult. The purpose of this competition is to provide a developmental and competitive experience for synchronized skating teams which allows them the opportunity to qualify for the Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships in Novice, Intermediate, Open, Junior and Senior categories. The top team in each of the five qualifying categories in every Region may advance to the National Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships. A detailed schedule will be available from the Skate Canada Manitoba website 2 weeks prior to the competition. Gate entry will be $10, Ages 6-12 $3, 5 and under free or weekend pass $18. This is a great opportunity to come out and see what synchronized skating is all about, while supporting your local skating club and local synchro teams. (submitted)

Crossin, Dittmer named to AAA Bantam All Star Game

Calder Crossin and Carter Dittmer have both been selected to represent the Major Bantam AAA Wheat Kings at the leagues upcoming All Star Game. Crossin, a defensemen, has registered 28 points in 23 games to date on the strength of 9 goals and 19 assists. Dittmer, a forward, earned his spot onto the team picking up 25 goals in 20 games. He has also chipped in with 12 assists as well. The All Star Game will take place on Saturday Jan 11th, 11:45 am at the Iceplex in Winnipeg.

Local Brandon youth curlers are sweeping success

Jack Lyburn and his team from the Brandon Curling Club became champions of the U15 Canad Inns Youth Winter Bonspiel during the Christmas break, held at The Fort Garry Curling Club in Winnipeg. This is the teams third Bonspiel in Winnipeg this season. The first in October saw them reach the semi final and then in November they took the number one championship spot from 16 teams, in the Pembina Cash Spiel. This is the first year the team have curled together under the skip Jack Lyburn age 14, with the third Leyton Gouldie age 13, second Jaden Colbourne age 14 and lead Brogan Schneider age 13. The boys will be trying out at the U18 Regionals this year in Melita for a chance at provincials, no expectations but all good experience! This is just the beginning. All Star Catcher Returns to Brandon for the 2020 Season

As preparations continue for the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks 2020 Expedition League season, the team is excited to announce that an All Star and fan favorite will return to his spot behind the plate at Andrews Field. LUCAS ALLEN, a sophomore Catcher from Bellevue, Washington has committed to return to the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks for this summer’s Expedition League campaign. Allen is 6’2, 190lbs and attends the University of Northern Colorado (playing for the UNC Bears) in Greenly, Colorado. “This is fantastic to come back to Brandon this summer. We all had such fun in our first season there last year” said Allen. He added, “Now, with a new coach and new players coming in, we’ll definitely have higher expectations for sure”. An Expedition League All Star for the Lewis Division last season, Allen caught the most games for the club last season (45), batted .288, with 44 hits, 21 RBI’s, and 3 home runs.
