Brandon Votes 

Council received a presentation on the upcoming municipal election that will be held on  Wed, Oct. 28, 2026. A candidate information session is planned for Tue, June 23, 2026 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Brandon City Hall. Anyone interested in municipal leadership is  encouraged to attend. 

Water and Wastewater Utility Rate Study for 2027 – 2030 

Council reviewed the findings of a utility rate study examining future water and wastewater  rates to support sustainable operations and long-term infrastructure needs. 

1st Street Water Main Replacement 

Council approved the low bid submitted for a water main replacement project along 1st  Street between Louise Ave. and Van Horne Ave. This project is part of ongoing efforts to  maintain critical infrastructure. 

Brandon Municipal Airport Pavement Maintenance 

Council approved airport pavement maintenance to support safe and efficient operations. This proactive work will help prevent water infiltration, protect the City’s investment,  extend pavement life, and support long-term asset sustainability.

Flood Mitigation Study Application 

Council approved an application to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Green  Municipal Fund to support a flood mitigation analysis and upgrades study focused on  enhancing community resilience. 

Subdivision Application– 400-Block of 4th Street 

Council approved a subdivision application for the property located in the 400-block of 4th  St. as part of continued development in the area. 

Public Hearings 

Council held two public hearings regarding proposed road and lane closures, including: A portion of lane south of Princess Ave. E.; and 

  • A portion of McTavish Ave. south of Victoria Ave. between 10th St. and 11th St. 

By-Laws: 

  • Approved By-Law No. 7446 to close a portion of McTavish Ave. south of Victoria Ave. between 10th St. and 11th St. 
  • First reading of By-Law No. 7447 to amend the service-sharing agreement with the  RM of Cornwallis to include wastewater services 
  • First reading of By-Law No. 7450 to establish updated water and wastewater utility  rates as of Jan. 1, 2027, subject to the approval of Manitoba Public Utilities Board Approved By-Law No. 7456 to open a portion of public road to support the 34th St. roundabout project 
  • First reading of By-law No. 7459 to rezone part of 1955 – 34th St. from RLD  Residential Low Density to OS Open Space 
  • First reading of By-Law No. 7460 to limit additional dwelling units in the rear of  residential properties
