Former Wheat King McQueen signs entry-level contract with the Ducks
A former member of the Brandon Wheat Kings Roger McQueen is taking the next step in his hockey career, signing a three-year, entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks. Anaheim selected McQueen 10th overall in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
The deal marks a significant milestone for the young forward/defenceman, who developed his game in Brandon and became a familiar face to local fans during his time in the Western Hockey League. He tallied 86 points in 127 Western Hockey League games from 2022-25.
Anaheim has been actively building toward the future, focusing on adding young talent to its roster. This signing reflects the club’s confidence in his potential to develop into a contributor at the professional level.
For Brandon hockey fans, the signing is another proud moment, as the Wheat Kings continue to produce players capable of reaching the NHL. The organization has long been known as a stepping stone for elite talent, and this latest contract adds to that legacy.
The player is expected to attend Anaheim’s development camp later this year, where he will begin competing for a spot within the organization and continue his journey toward the NHL.
