From DMs to Detention: Busy 24 Hours with Warrants, Breaches & Protective Detentions

Failure to Comply Release Order

On July 21^st a 21-year-old male was arrested and charged for Failure to Comply Release Order. The male had been in communications with an 18-year-old female of whom he had a No Contact Order with. It was confirmed 51 phone calls, and 10 texts were sent between the two in an approximate three-week period. The male was arrested, held in BPS detention cells and will attend court in the morning on July 22^nd, 2026.

 Arrest Warrants

Over the past 24 hours, seven individuals were arrested on outstanding Warrants for Arrest. Of those arrested, four were released on Appearance Notices and one was released on an Undertaking, each with future court dates. The remaining two individuals were held in detention cells to appear before the court on the morning of July 22^nd, 2026.

 Protective Detention and Care of Intoxicated Persons Act (PDCIPA)

In the past 24 hours two individuals were arrested for PDCIPA and brought to Brandon Police Service (BPS) detention cells.  They will be released once sober and able to care for themselves safely.

Breach of the Peace

Over the past 24 hours, Brandon Police Service (BPS) responded to three separate incidents involving three individuals causing disturbances.

In the first incident, family members contacted police regarding an intoxicated 21-year-old female who was attempting to physically fight her mother at their residence in the 100 block of 4^th Street.

The second incident occurred at a hotel in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue after security contacted police about an intoxicated male who had been following three females as they walked back to the hotel from a store several blocks away. The male attempted to enter the hotel despite not being a guest. He became argumentative with staff and made racist comments.

The third Breach of the Peace incident involved a 20-year-old female panhandler who refused to leave a business in the 700 block of 10th Street. She had been swearing at customers and causing a disturbance.

Three individuals were arrested for Breach of the Peace and brought to BPS detention cells to allow the situations to de-escalate and the disruptive behaviour to cease. They will be released once they are sober or calm and able to safely care for themselves.
