On Saturday at 8:40 a.m., police received a report of a disturbance at an apartment in the west end of Brandon. The subsequent investigation revealed that a 21-year-old male from Brandon had assaulted his girlfriend by choking her during an argument. At one point the male armed himself with a crossbow which was loaded with an arrow, pointed it at the female and threatened to kill her, and then fired the arrow into the apartment wall. The male was intoxicated, and lodged at the Brandon Correctional Centre for release once he was sober. The male is facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death, and possession of a dangerous weapon, and will appear in court in December. He is on conditions to have no contact with the victim and not possess weapons.
