The Manitoba government is advancing improvements to Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 2, with the project currently in the design phase and an invitation to tender anticipated this fall, Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor announced today.

“Our government is committed to making strategic investments that keep Manitobans moving safely and efficiently,” said Naylor. “Advancing work on PTH 2 reflects our focus on improving critical infrastructure while supporting economic activity in communities across the region.”

Construction on this approximately 22-kilometre section of PTH 2, from the west junction of PTH 21 to two kilometres west of Provincial Road 250 (Souris), is expected to begin in 2027, the minister noted, adding that the project supports continued improvements to safety and reliability along this key corridor.

In addition, a nearby shoulder restoration project is planned for approximately 20 kilometres along PTH 2 from its intersection with PTH 83. The project has an estimated cost of $350,000 and will improve roadway conditions and complement improvements planned for next year, the minister noted.

The PTH 2 improvements build on the Manitoba government’s broader commitment to strengthen the provincial highway network and ensuring long-term, reliable transportation routes, the minister noted.
