Stolen Vehicle vs. Transit Bus/Building Motor Vehicle Collision
Brandon Police Service Media Release
At approx. 3:30 PM, police received a report that a 2011 Lincoln MKS had been stolen from a residence in the 300 blk of 4th St. The stolen vehicle was travelling East on Princess Ave. moments later when it went through a red light at 10th St. and Princess Ave. and struck a North bound transit bus, causing it to strike a building at the north- west corner of the intersection. The collision with the building caused structural damage and the bus had to be left in there overnight to prevent the possible collapse of the building. Residents of an upstairs residence had to be relocated due to safety concerns. Remediation work has taken place and it is expected that the bus will be moved today.
A twelve-year-old Brandon resident will appear in court this morning charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and numerous Highway Traffic Offences.
