Shortly before 9:00 on Thursday night, Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Brandon Police Service responded to the corner of Cottonwood Crescent and Queens Ave East for a single-vehicle crash involving a power pole.
According to witnesses, a blue Dodge Ram truck was driving south on Driftwood Crescent when it veered off the road, struck a stop sign at Queens Ave E. and crossed the road, continued onto the sidewalk of Cottonwood Crescent striking a power pole (sheering it at the base) and eventually smashing into a large tree.
Because of the downed power lines Manitoba Hydro was called to shut off power. The circumstances of the crash are unclear, and it is unknown if anybody was transported to hospital. The truck suffered extensive damage, and a few parked cars received damage as well.
