Brandon, MB. – The Brandon Wheat Kings have dealt 19-year old netminder Dylan Myskiw to the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a conditional fifth round bantam draft choice.

A former Winnipeg AAA Midget Thrasher, Myskiw was acquired by Brandon last September from the Victoria Royals for a sixth round selection and wound up playing 33 regular season and playoff games for the Wheat Kings in 2017-18.

Wednesday’s trade leaves the Wheat Kings with two goalkeepers on their roster heading into Friday’s Home Opener against Moose Jaw – 17-year old rookie Ethan Kruger and 19-year old Vegas Golden Knights prospect Jiri Patera.

Patera was Brandon’s second selection in June’s Canadian Hockey League Import Draft and was chosen by the Knights in the sixth round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

The Czech Republic product appeared in 34 games and compiled a 3.24 goals against average with Cedar Rapids of the USHL in 2017-18.

Kruger meanwhile played in eighteen games for the Sherwood Park AAA Midget Kings last year.

Tickets to the Wheat Kings Home Opener are on sale now at the Keystone box office, by calling (204) 726-3555 and online at keystonecentre.com

Fans interested in 2018-19 season tickets are urged to call the Wheat Kings at (204) 726-3535.
