JJ Shiplett headlining 2017 Summer Lights Concert Series kick-off

Alberta-based singer-songwriter JJ Shiplett has been confirmed as the headliner for the 2017 Summer Lights Concert Series kick-off on Thursday, June 15th. Shiplett had spent the better part of 12 years working in the music industry prior to his big break joining multi-platinum entertainer Johnny Reid on his “What Love Is All About” 2016 national tour. The 204, a Brandon based band, will open for Shiplett. Show time is 7 pm in Princess Park. The event, held at Princess Park each summer offers FREE concerts from high-calibre regional and national talent one Thursday a month through the months of June, July and August. Announcements will be forthcoming for performers for the months of July and August, as well as for the all-day Summer Lights Music Festival held in September.

Downtown’s biggest party returns with Bringing Down the Decker 3

Brandon, get ready to party. Bringing Down the Decker 3 featuring different musical acts, on three different floors, goes Friday, June the 23rd at the Double Decker Tavern. Headlining the event on the tops floor is Doom Squad, a Hip Hop group from Edmonton, AB consisting of 3 artists; Kryple, NineLivez & Trippz. The group has been together since the end of 2010 and have released three albums to date. They have already gained a huge fan base across Canada & the rest of the world and have opened for almost every big Hip Hop artist that has come to Edmonton in the last 4 years. Their 2-month long, 36 show Canadian tour also includes stops in Halifax, Toronto, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Calgary & Kelowna. DJ TEE KAY will take center stage on the main floor, while DJ Dirtybird will hold down the fort in the basement, in the form of a rave. Organizers, Prarie Dawg Entertainment tell bdnmb.ca that they expect 400-500 people to pass through the doors on the Friday night.

NHL hockey legend Theo Fleury in concert in Virden

NHL hockey legend Theo Fleury and the Death Valley Rebels will be in concert at the Virden Aud Centre in Virden, Mb. The former Former NHL All-Star, Stanley Cup winner and Olympic Gold Medalist released his debut album "I Am What I Am" in October of 2015. The concert is taking place on Friday, May the 26th and proceeds from the concert will benefit children and youth programs in SW Manitoba. Tickets are $25 for adults and only $15 for 12 and under. The concert is being presented by Prairie West Recreation and Arts Mosaic. Start time is 7:30 pm.
