Chez Angela's Bakery (29-10th Street, Unit C ) has been named as one of the 9 super-tasty restaurants, bakeries and cafes that you need to check out in Manitoba this winter by Travel Manitoba.  The popular downtown bakery opened in late July and features fresh-baked goods made by hand with locally-sourced ingredients.

La Vie en Rose opens Friday in the Shoppers Mall

Canadian lingerie retailer La Vie en Rose will be opening a location inside the Brandon Shoppers Mall on Friday, January 11th.  The popular brand produces and sells a range of undergarments, sleepwear, everyday essentials and swimwear for women.  Plans to open a location in the Shoppers Mall were announced in late June.

The Grey Owl restaurant runs weekday evenings from Jan. 21 to Feb. 15

The annual Grey Owl restaurant at Assiniboine Community College is a symphony of sights, smells and flavours. Students and faculty come together to present a fusion of nouvelle and classic cuisine in the historic Grey Owl dining room of the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts on the North Hill campus. The Grey Owl restaurant runs every weekday evening from Jan. 21 to Feb. 15. Reservations can be made starting this Thursday, Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. by calling 204.725.8738 or toll-free at 800.862.6307 ext 6516. Freshii to open second Brandon location

A new Freshii location will open at the Corral Centre in Brandon.  The location, 915-18th Street North, will be the second for Brandon, and also owned by Tyler and Jody Henry. They opened their first Freshii location (18th Street) in April of 2018.  Tyler Henry tells bdnmb.ca that they are hoping to open the 3rd to 4th week of April, or possibly earlier if they can get in on February 1st to do the renovations and build out. “So many business’s draw people to that area“ said Tyler as to why the location was selected.  "Parking shouldn’t be a problem even at Christmas time as the flow of traffic was pretty good this year" he added. Freshii currently has 18 full and part time staff at it's 18th Street location and expect to employ about the same at the new address. Freshii is a Canadian fast-casual restaurant that serves burritos, wraps, soups, salads and frozen yogurt featuring fast, custom-built fresh ingredients.

Local restaurant to celebrate Ukrainian Christmas with themed menu items

The Dock on Princess, a very popular local downtown restaurant, have decided to celebrate Ukrainian Christmas with some classic Ukrainian food dishes.  The feast will consist of perogies with onions and bacon, fried kolbassa, and cabbage rolls for $20/plate.  The featured menu items will be available for a limited time (January 4th, 5th, and 7th).
