WCG Announces 2026 Connecting Westman Tour Locations

Westman Communications Group (WCG) has announced the return of its annual Connecting Westman Tour initiative for 2026. This year, WCG will host charity barbecues in the communities of Souris, Glenboro, Winnipegosis and Pilot Mound to help raise funds for local causes.  WCG started the Connecting Westman Tour in 2019 to support the communities it serves in Manitoba. WCG Epands Connect 2.5 GIG Internet Speeds to Gilbert Plains

Westman Communications Group (WCG), a member-owned cooperative providing high-quality telecommunication services to communities throughout Manitoba, has recently upgraded services to Gilbert Plains with Connect 2.5 Gig Internet services. The plan offers a download speed of up to 2500 Mbps and an upload speed of up to 150 Mbps, delivering the fast and reliable services its members deserve.  "We have worked incredibly hard to ensure that our services meet and exceed member  expectations," said E.J. Keys, President and CEO of WCG. “Expanding to 2.5 GIG speeds allows  us to continue innovating and improving, as well as to provide local support to rural communities and within the city of Brandon."  WCG is an industry leader in communications services, offering High-Speed Internet, IPTV, and Home Phone services to communities throughout the Westman region. City of Brandon Partners With Los Brothers to Bring Back the Canteen at Brandon’s Community Sportsplex

The City of Brandon is pleased to announce that work is underway for the return of a fully operational canteen at Brandon’s Community Sportsplex, marking the end of a seven-year hiatus and another milestone in the continued revitalization of one of the city’s most important recreation hubs. Following a competitive procurement process, the City has entered into a five-year partnership with Los Brothers Restaurant. Los Brothers will oversee all day-to-day operations, including staffing, menu creation, and daily service. Their involvement aims to ensure a welcoming and dependable canteen experience for both families and athletes. The canteen is expected to be fully open later this spring. “It’s great to have food service back at the Sportsplex,” said Mayor Jeff Fawcett. “Families spend so much time here, and having a reliable spot to grab something to eat between games or practices just makes the whole experience easier. We’re really happy to welcome Los Brothers into the Sportsplex and grateful to see our community making this kind of investment in a space that brings so many people together.” Construction and preparations have been underway since last fall, with the canteen gearing up to once again serve athletes, families, spectators, and visitors. The newly renovated canteen will offer a mix of traditional sports complex offerings, as well as some of Los Brother’s authentic Mexican and Salvadorian cuisine. “Partnering with Los Brothers allows us to enhance the Sportsplex experience in a meaningful way,” said Heather Reimer, Manager of Recreation for the City of Brandon. “We appreciate their investment in our community and their enthusiasm for creating a welcoming space for everyone.” “Los Brothers is thrilled to partner with the City of Brandon to bring fresh, authentic flavors to the Sportsplex,” said Rick Yanes, owner of Los Brothers. “We look forward to fueling athletes and families with high-quality meals and becoming a welcoming part of the newly renovated facility.”
