City Plan Celebration to include live music, food trucks

 The City of Brandon’s Planning & Buildings Department is inviting all residents to a City Plan Celebration event on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Princess Park*. The purpose of this event is to celebrate  community collaboration  efforts in the process of building the City Plan. This is also an opportunity for residents to get involved with the City Plan if they have not already done so. This come and go event will include family-friendly games and activities, live music by local musicians The Fraggles, and local food trucks will be offering food for purchase. Portions of 8th and 9th Street between Princess Avenue and Lorne Avenue will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Family-friendly activities will be based on key City Plan themes, which include Inclusive Neighbourhoods, Transportation, and Climate Change. In addition, local skateboarding store Recovery Skateshop will be offering skateboard lessons starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Kristopher Campbell Memorial Skate Plaza. Brandon City Plan  The Brandon City Plan is a 30-year vision for the City of Brandon, which will guide Brandon's growth and change for the next 30 years. More details on the City Plan project can be found at brandon.ca/cityplan. *Rain location: event will be held at the Cultural Resource Centre (638 Princess Avenue) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Brandon Police arrest man for uttering threats

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On May 31, 2022, shortly before 5:00 pm, police responded to a request to assist in checking on two children who were in an unsafe situation at a residence as the adults present were reported to be under the influence of either drugs or alcohol.  The children were temporarily removed from the unsafe situation.  A 32-year-old male became confrontational with officers and threatened to cause them harm.  He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released once sober to appear in court on July 25, 2022 on a charge of Uttering Threats.

Female, 26, facing drug trafficking charge following traffic stop

Source: BPS News Release On May 27, 2022, following an investigation into drug trafficking, members of the Organized Crime Section conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th street, and search of a residence on Bison Way shortly before 9:00 pm. Police seized approximately three ounces of Cocaine, with a street value of $8800.  Also seized was cash and machetes. Arrested was a 26-year-old female.  She was later released to appear in court on July 14, 2022 on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime and Possession of a Weapon. Two other individuals were also arrested, but later released with no charges.
