Female, 26, facing drug trafficking charge following traffic stop

Source: BPS News Release On May 27, 2022, following an investigation into drug trafficking, members of the Organized Crime Section conducted a traffic stop in the 1500 block of 18th street, and search of a residence on Bison Way shortly before 9:00 pm. Police seized approximately three ounces of Cocaine, with a street value of $8800.  Also seized was cash and machetes. Arrested was a 26-year-old female.  She was later released to appear in court on July 14, 2022 on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime and Possession of a Weapon. Two other individuals were also arrested, but later released with no charges.

Female,39, arrested after passing fake $100 USD

Source: BPS Mews Release On May 16, 2022, police received a report that an individual had made a purchase at a business in the 900 block of 18th street N. using counterfeit 100 USD bills.  The employees discovered that the bills were counterfeit, so when the suspect came back to return the purchase for a refund, employees were able to recover the merchandise, and they did not provide a refund to the suspect. On May 19, 2022, police received a report that a suspect had passed a counterfeit 100 USD bill at a business in the 000 block of Willowdale Cres. On May 27, 2022, police received a report of a theft of an e-Bike from a business in the 2000 block of Park Ave on May 26, 2022.  This bike was recovered as it was found on May 28, 2022 after it had been abandoned. Security footage from all three businesses assisted police in identifying the 39-year-old female suspect. On May 30, 2022, shortly after midnight, police conducted a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 26th street.  The suspect from the above incidents was in the vehicle; however, she provided police with another name.  Once police learned her identity, the 39-year-old female was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service.  She will appear in court today on charges of Theft Under $5000, Uttering Counterfeit Money X2, and Obstruct Peace Officer.

City of Brandon releases 2022 construction projects

The City of Brandon Development Services is releasing its annual list of the construction projects that are slated for the upcoming construction season. Impaired driving charge laid against 80-year-old Brandon male

Source: BPS Media Release At 2:27 a.m. today, police were notified of a single vehicle accident in the 1300 block of 18th Street where a passenger vehicle had driven over the median and struck a light standard, knocking it down. The operator of the vehicle, an 80 year old male from Brandon, was found to be impaired by alcohol and arrested. He was transported to the BPS office where samples of his breath were obtained showing that he was above the legal allowable blood/alcohol concentration for driving. He was released to appear in court in June, charged with impaired driving and driving over 80 mg%. There were no injuries in this accident.
