At 2:27 a.m. today, police were notified of a single vehicle accident in the 1300 block of 18th Street where a passenger vehicle had driven over the median and struck a light standard, knocking it down. The operator of the vehicle, an 80 year old male from Brandon, was found to be impaired by alcohol and arrested. He was transported to the BPS office where samples of his breath were obtained showing that he was above the legal allowable blood/alcohol concentration for driving. He was released to appear in court in June, charged with impaired driving and driving over 80 mg%. There were no injuries in this accident.
