The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE” Samantha LONGCLAWS FOR Assault Police Officer, Resist Police Officer, Assault & Fail to Attend Court. On November 19, 2024, Samantha LONGCLAWS assaulted the loss prevention officer at a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue. Additionally, LONGCLAWS assaulted Police when they were effecting the arrest. LONGCLAWS was charged and released, however; has failed to attend court and her whereabouts is unknown. Charges Laid for June Incident

An incident that occurred on June 25th, 2025, now has two individuals officially charged. On June 25th at approximately 8:02 AM, the sound of two gunshots was reported in the Westaway Bay area. Shortly after, at around 8:20 AM, a report was received from Alaska Bay regarding a shooting victim. The victim, a 33-year-old male, was found to have a gunshot wound to the left hip area. The victim was taken to hospital where he received care for the non-life-threatening injury. As a result of the investigation, two individuals have been charged. 22-year-old Jacob Macwilliam has been charged with Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm. Jacob Macwilliam currently has an active Warrant for his Arrest. Should the public have any information on his whereabouts please call the Brandon Police Service non-emergency line at 204-729-2345 or Crime Stoppers at 204-727-TIPS. 20-year-old Jamal Huntinghawk has been charged with: • Discharging a Firearm While Being Reckless • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon Knowing Possession Was Unauthorized • Weapons Possession Contrary to Order and Failing to Surrender Authorization (x3) At the time of the incident, Jamal Huntinghawk was out on bail and was subject to multiple firearm prohibition orders. Huntinghawk is currently remanded to the Brandon Correctional Centre.

Call For 2026 Residential Rain Garden Applicants

The City of Brandon is seeking applicants for the 2026 Residential Rain Garden Program. This program in partnership with Central Assiniboine Watershed District is seeking up to 25 single dwelling residential properties to install a rain garden in their yard in the summer of 2026. A rain garden is a green landscape feature that captures stormwater runoff from lawns, rooftops, and driveways. They feature a shallow depression with deep, loose soil to absorb and filter stormwater naturally. While these gardens collect water, they do not typically serve as breeding habitats for mosquitoes. Rain gardens require minimal maintenance and can be integrated into various landscapes. A rain garden can also: reduce the amount of water that enters the local storm sewer network reduce flooding, mitigate drainage issues and prevent stream banks from eroding restore and recharge our groundwater system replicating the natural hydrological cycle attract birds, butterflies, pollinators and other beneficial insects, such as mosquito-consuming dragonflies Basic eligibility requirements for the program include: applicants must be a resident of Brandon, and the rain garden must be installed on a property you own within city limits the rain garden must be in a low-lying location on your property the rain garden must be installed at least three (3) metres away from the foundation of your house you must be able to redirect a downspout from your roof to the rain garden area the proposed rain garden location must be clear of any trees and/or underground services If residents are interested in applying to be a part of the pilot program, they should apply online at Residential Rain Garden Program. Once approved, a staff member from the Central Assiniboine Watershed District will contact the homeowner to assist with the design and installation of the rain garden. There is a limited amount of funding available. Eligible applicants will be assessed on a first come, first-served basis. Inmate Charged After Throwing Hot Coffee on Officer at Brandon Correctional Centre

Inmate Charged After Throwing Hot Coffee on Officer at Brandon Correctional Centre On August 10th a police officer attended Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC) and arrested a 26-year-old male due to incident that occurred on May 31st, 2025. The inmate had thrown hot coffee on an officer’s arm which was captured on video surveillance. The male was arrested and released via Appearance Notice with a court date of August 11th, 2025. Mischief Under $5000 On August 10th at 2:48 PM police conducted a stop with a cyclist in the area of 15th Street and Louise Avenue. Due to having an Outstanding Warrant (Mischief Under $5000) the 25-year-old male was arrested. He was later released via Appearance Notice with a court date of September 8th ,2025.

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE”: Charmaine ELK FOR Theft Under $5000 & Fail to Attend Court. On June 3rd, 2025, Police arrested and released Charmaine Elk for Theft Under $5000 after stealing merchandise from a Brandon business. Charmaine Elk has failed to attend court and her whereabouts are unknown, therefore a warrant of arrest has been issued. CRIME OF THE WEEK for August 7th, 2025 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a Arson. On August 5th, 2025, at approximately 6:00AM, emergency services attended a structure fire in the 200 block of 8th Street. Two males were seen fleeing the area and described as wearing all black with hoods over their heads. Police need assistance identifying one of the males who was captured on video surveillance.
