Police arrest male suspect in connection to stabbing incident in Brandon

Woman charged with impaired driving

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 11:00 AM Saturday, police were called regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of the 300 block of 6th St.  Members attended to the area, however the vehicle was no longer in the area, nor had it returned to the address of its owner.  A short time later an officer observed the vehicle in the 600 block of 6th St and a stop was initiated.  The driver, a 21-year-old female of Brandon was observed by the officer to be under the influence of alcohol and was therefore arrested for impaired driving.  She provided two samples of her breath, which resulted in readings approx. twice the legal limit.  She was released to a sober friend, and will appear in court on September 7, charged with impaired driving and drive over .08.

Attempted vehicle stop leads to short foot pursuit

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 12:45 AM today, police attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of the 1200 block of Lorne Ave.  The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot but was apprehended after a short foot pursuit.  Once located, the driver was identified and found to be prohibited from driving and in breach of his court ordered undertaking.  The 36-year-old Brandon man was held at BPS for court today.  The 26-year-old female passenger of Russell MB was also breaching conditions of her release.  She will appear in court today as well.

Police seeking information after multiple break-ins in Brandon

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Break and Enter to Business On June 25, 2020, police responded to a report of a Break and Enter to an office space in the 3000 block of Victoria Ave E. The incident is believed to have occurred between 8:00 pm the previous evening and 5:30 am on June 25. Stolen was money from a vending machine. Anyone with information regarding this offence is encouraged to contact Brandon Police Service. Break and Enter to Business On June 25, 2020, police responded to a break and enter to an external building of a business in the 600 block of Percy Street. The incident is believed to have occurred between 8:30 pm on June 24 and noon on June 25. Suspects attempted to gain entry to a beer cooler without success. Anyone with information regarding this offence is encouraged to contact Brandon Police Service.

Truck Shears Power Pole

Shortly before 9:00 on Thursday night, Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Brandon Police Service responded to the corner of Cottonwood Crescent and Queens Ave East for a single-vehicle crash involving a power pole. According to witnesses, a blue Dodge Ram truck was driving south on Driftwood Crescent when it veered off the road, struck a stop sign at Queens Ave E. and crossed the road, continued onto the sidewalk of Cottonwood Crescent striking a power pole (sheering it at the base) and eventually smashing into a large tree. Because of the downed power lines Manitoba Hydro was called to shut off power. The circumstances of the crash are unclear, and it is unknown if anybody was transported to hospital. The truck suffered extensive damage, and a few parked cars received damage as well.
