Brandon man (23) charged with Break, Enter and Commit Theft

Source:Brandon Police Service Media Release A 23 year old Brandon man has been charged with Break, Enter and Commit Theft.  On May 3rd, a garage in the 1300 block of 18th St North was entered by the suspect who then stole several items out a vehicle parked in the garage.  He was identified from surveillance video at a nearby business.  He was located by the investigating officer shortly before 2:00 am on Sunday morning, arrested and lodged to appear in court on Sunday morning.

Grass Fire Threatens Homes Along Rosser Ave

Brandon Fire and Emergency Services were able to contain and extinguish a grass fire beside the train tracks along Rosser Ave, in the west end of the city. Fire was moving close to homes on Deer Place, Elk Place, and Fox place along Rosser Ave. Firefighters were able to contain the fire on the south side of the railroad tracks, without impacting any homes or properties. BFES's water tanker was brought in to supply more water to the firefighter/paramedics.

Man, 47, allegedly blows nearly 3 times the legal limit

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release A 47 year old Brandon male has been charged with Impaired Driving.  Police received a tip of an extremely intoxicated male driving away from a local bar.  Police were able to locate the subject and he was found to be extremely intoxicated.  He provided breath samples nearly three times the legal limit.  A court appearance has been set for May 21st.

17 year old male facing multiple charges following string of fires in Brandon

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Police and members of BFES responded to 4 fires overnight beginning at approximately 3:42 am.  The last fire was reported at 4:15 am.  The fires were started on residential properties within a 10 block radius and include sheds, trees, a dumpster and a porch.  Multiple households were evacuated as a precaution.  Individuals without a place to evacuate to where brought to Brandon Police Service.  All fires were successfully extinguished, and there were no reported injuries.  The extent of the monetary damage to property is not known at this time. A 17 year old male cyclist was arrested near one of the scenes.  He will appear in court on July 2, 2019 on charges of Arson with Disregard for Human Life, Arson Causing Damage to Property, and Possession of Incendiary Material. At this time police are not looking for any other suspects; however, the investigation is ongoing in cooperation with members of the Office of the Fire Commissioner.

Break-in suspect assaults homeowner, both receive medical attention

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Friday May 10, 2019 at approximately 4:41 am police receive a report of a fight in an east end neighborhood.  Attending members soon learned that the 18 year old suspect was caught by a homeowner breaking into his garage.  The home owner was assaulted by the suspect.  He was able to restrain the suspect until police arrived to take custody.  The homeowner required medical attention for injuries he sustained from the assault.  He was treated at BRHC and released.  The 18 year old suspect was also treated medically for injuries he sustained during the confrontation before being released to appear in court on June 24, 2019.
