Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On Monday evening at approximately 7:50pm, a 911 call was received of male with an arm injury and the male may have been stabbed. Police attended with BFES to a residence in the 1200 block of 10th Street and located the male, who had a gunshot wound to his right arm. The male indicated he was walking southbound on 10th Street, when a male known to him was driving northbound stopped got out the vehicle and shot him. Police attended to the accused’s residence and observed the suspect vehicle parked in front. The accused was stopped by police, when leaving the residence Tuesday morning at approximately 01:00am. Police arrested a 31yr old Brandon man for Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous x2, Pointing a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possess of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Prohibited Order, Discharge Firearm with the Intent to Wound/Maim/Disfigure and Discharge Firearm with the Intent to Endanger Life. The male was lodged at BCC to appear in Court on February 05th. The victim was taken to the hospital to attend to his injury a shattered humerous bone. Still under investigation.

Two people were taken to hospital Monday afternoon after being involved in a three-vehicle crash on the 18th St rail bridge. Two small cars and a pickup truck were involved in the crash. Brandon Fire and Emergency Services along with Brandon Police Service attended the scene. Traffic intending to go over the bridge was completely blocked and rerouted. Vehicles travelling northbound were rerouted east on Pacific Ave, while vehicles travelling south were rerouted down Fred Brown Way and onto 19th St North. Accel Towing & Transport was on scene to clear the wrecked vehicles. Road conditions on the bridge at the time were snow-packed and extremely icy.  Photos by Liam Pattison Photography.

Twisters on 18th Street is now officially for sale according to owners Frank and Geri Iwasiuk. After two years in business, Frank has felt this is a full-time venture and not something you can do on the side. “We had the highest sales in 11 years since the business was open but to make it successful you have to be hands-on" according to Iwasiuk. Last year Twisters added new bathrooms and seating area which was roughly a $20,000 upgrade. Occupation: Real estate sales. First job: Grew up on a farm but first off farm job was carpentry. Nickname: I get a lot of Tazer from my last name, said the right way. Childhood celebrity crush: Wow! Long time ago but probably Tanya Tucker. Years lived in Brandon: Since 2002, 17 years. Hobbies: Golf, curling, music. If you were trying out for Canadian Idol what would be your go to song: Something classic country, Ghost in This House - Shenandoah or Don't Close Your Eyes - Keith Whitley. Chicken wings or lettuce wraps: Wings. Favorite city to visit: Nashville but want to visit New York & Boston. Favorite All-Time Wheat King: Ryan Craig was the man when I moved here and played a great all around game. Have to mention our current NHL local boys Matt Calvert and Michael Ferland. Good western Canada grit there. A new business you would like to see make an appearance in Brandon: Disc golf. A concert the Keystone Centre should bring to town: Something classic or retro country, either from the 1990's or a current act that plays that style. You've got friends visiting Brandon for the first time, where are you taking them: Joe Beeverz, Firehouse, Keystone Centre. Spend some on myself and family, and then invest the most of it (probably in real estate). Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On Sunday morning at approximately 10:50am, Police received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 3400 block of Victoria Avenue. The vehicle is described as a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse. The vehicle was located by Police in the 100 block laneway between 15th and 16th Street. The vehicle tried to flee the scene, backed up into a Police vehicle and then forward into another Police vehicle. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and Police removed the driver and placed him under arrested. Police found in the driver’s possession a concealed weapon. A 32yr old man was arrested for Theft of Motor Vehicle, Dangerous Driving, Assault with a Weapon, Carry concealed Weapon and Drive while Prohibited. The male was lodged at BCC for Court on February 04th.
