Fire rips through three story house

Shortly after 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon, Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Brandon Police Service responded to the corner of 4th Street and Louise Ave in Brandon for a structure fire. Upon arrival, smoke and flames were showing throughout the entire three-story residence. Firefighter/paramedics went to work and put multiple hose-lines in action, while simultaneously securing a water supply from a fire hydrant. A ladder truck was used to apply large amounts of water onto the fire from it's aerial ladder. As of 6:30 Tuesday night, fire crews were still on scene battling the blaze, and will likely be on scene throughout the night. Rockin’ the Fields of Minnedosa Announces 2019 Lineup

Canada’s Premiere Classic Rock Festival is headed back to Minnedosa in 2019 for three days of outstanding classic rock under the summer sun.   Collective Soul, 54-40, Tom Cochrane, Platinum Blonde and the Sam Roberts Band will all take to the main stage at the 16th annual festival. Saturday night's headliner Collective Soul is an American based rock band who rose to international fame in 1993 with their song “Shine.”  Some of their other notable singles include “The World I Know,” “Precious Declaration,” “December,” and “Where the River Flows.” The rest of the festival lineup includes: April Wine, Sass Jordan, Lee Aaron, Harlequin, Streeetheart and the Battle of the Bands winner.  Tickets go on sale February 8 at 10:00am! Attempted murder charge laid in Brandon shooting

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On Monday evening at approximately 7:50pm, a 911 call was received of male with an arm injury and the male may have been stabbed. Police attended with BFES to a residence in the 1200 block of 10th Street and located the male, who had a gunshot wound to his right arm. The male indicated he was walking southbound on 10th Street, when a male known to him was driving northbound stopped got out the vehicle and shot him. Police attended to the accused’s residence and observed the suspect vehicle parked in front. The accused was stopped by police, when leaving the residence Tuesday morning at approximately 01:00am. Police arrested a 31yr old Brandon man for Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous x2, Pointing a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possess Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, Unauthorized Possess of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm contrary to a Prohibited Order, Discharge Firearm with the Intent to Wound/Maim/Disfigure and Discharge Firearm with the Intent to Endanger Life. The male was lodged at BCC to appear in Court on February 05th. The victim was taken to the hospital to attend to his injury a shattered humerous bone. Still under investigation.

18th St Bridge Sees 3 Vehicle Pile-Up

Two people were taken to hospital Monday afternoon after being involved in a three-vehicle crash on the 18th St rail bridge. Two small cars and a pickup truck were involved in the crash. Brandon Fire and Emergency Services along with Brandon Police Service attended the scene. Traffic intending to go over the bridge was completely blocked and rerouted. Vehicles travelling northbound were rerouted east on Pacific Ave, while vehicles travelling south were rerouted down Fred Brown Way and onto 19th St North. Accel Towing & Transport was on scene to clear the wrecked vehicles. Road conditions on the bridge at the time were snow-packed and extremely icy.  Photos by Liam Pattison Photography.

Twisters on 18th Street For Sale

Twisters on 18th Street is now officially for sale according to owners Frank and Geri Iwasiuk. After two years in business, Frank has felt this is a full-time venture and not something you can do on the side. “We had the highest sales in 11 years since the business was open but to make it successful you have to be hands-on" according to Iwasiuk.
