Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release Theft of a Snowmobile: On Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:13pm, Police received a theft report of a snowmobile from a residence on Winston Bay. The theft occurred sometime overnight between 2018-12-08 and 2018-12-09. The snowmobile is described as a 2012 Ski-Doo 800 with wrapped decal job. Police continue to investigate. Theft of a Quad and Trailer: On Sunday afternoon at approximately 12:44pm, Police received a theft report of a Quad and utility trailer from a residence in Brentwood Village Trailer Court. The theft occurred sometime overnight. The Quad is described as an orange Polaris Sportsman XP1000 and the trailer is a black Rainbow utility trailer with Manitoba plate U308G. Police continue to investigate.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 8:05 am Saturday morning, Brandon Police attended a residence in the north end for a report of a gunshot.  A 25-year-old female was located with a gunshot wound to her leg.  A 29-year-old Brandon male was arrested and confirmed that he was trying to unload a shotgun when it went off striking his girlfriend.  Both parties involved indicated that the shooting was accidental.  A bolt-action 12-gauge shotgun was located by police and seized as evidence.  The male was released from custody and will appear in court in January.  Information about the medical condition of the victim is not available at this time.

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On Friday, police were dispatched to a business in the 600 block of Rosser Ave. regarding a theft that had occurred.  It appears that a culprit(s) had entered the business via an unlocked rear door and proceeded to steal personal items belonging to staff from inside the business.  The matter is still under investigation. On Friday at approximately 15:00 hrs, police were notified that a male was in a business at the Corral Centre stealing merchandise.  Police located and arrested a 26 yr. old male in the area who was found to be in possession of approximately $500.00 worth of stolen goods.  The male was found to be also bound by conditions not to attend the Corral Centre.  he was arrested and detained at the Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear before a Justice on the matter

It’s that time of year again, Brandon Police Service in Partnership with MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) and LGCA of Manitoba will conducting Operation Festive Spirits this Holiday Season. For the month of December, Brandon Police Service will be taking a pro-active enforcement and educational approach through a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) aimed to reduce impaired driving in the City of Brandon, increase awareness of the cost of impaired driving and ultimately show Manitoba motoring public that finding a safe way home this festive season is the only option. High visibility Check Stops and targeted saturated patrols will be set out across the city in an effort to detect, deter and enforce traffic laws in relation to alcohol related offences including impaired and aggressive driving. In addition through media releases, we will attempt to educate the public on the cost and end result of impaired driving and its related offences. The message that the Brandon Police Service is sending to the motoring public is a simple one: If you choose to drink or do drugs, do the right thing and select or choose a designated driver. Please celebrate the Christmas season, but do it responsibly and Don’t Drink and Drive.

BRANDON, MB – The Keystone Centre has received a grant of $45,000 from the Brandon Area Community Foundation (BACF). The Brandon Area Community Foundation originally contributed to the purchase and install of retractable bleachers for the Kinsmen and Enns Brother Arenas in 2016. This grant will support the purchase of a specialized motor to retract the bleachers which will, in-turn, extend the life of the equipment. “This was a crucial purchase to ensure these bleachers will be able to sustain the frequent conversions to accommodate our multi-use facility,” said Jeff Schumacher, general manager, Keystone Centre. “The price tag was too high for us to purchase this add-on at the outset but with this support from BACF we are pleased to be able to install the bleacher motor so that we can ensure this important equipment has as long of a lifespan as possible.” "The Brandon Area Community Foundation is pleased to provide this funding to the Keystone Centre. The two smaller hockey rinks where the BACF-sponsored bleachers are located play host to many families in Brandon and the Westman area, and we're happy to support the Keystone Centre staff in the work they do to adapt the areas for multiple uses,” said Bev Cumming Chairperson for Brandon Area Community Foundation.
