Male arrested allegedly in possession of cocaine

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release On September 5, 2018 about 11:30 AM, police attended an apartment in the 700 blk Franklin St regarding an intoxicated 20 year old male. He had consumed a large amount of alcohol and drugs. He was arrested and when searched several grams of cocaine were located on him.  He was lodged for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He will be released in the morning when sober, to appear in court on November 8, 2018.

Woman arrested after allegedly fleeing police following vehicle stop

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release Early Wednesday morning at approximately 4:06am, Brandon Police Service conducted a vehicle stop in the 1400 block of 13th Street. The female driver could not produce a driver’s license and claimed to be another person, unknown to her that person was a suspended driver. Upon learning she was being arrested for suspended driving, the female sped off, Police  located the vehicle parked in front of a residence in the 1400 block of 9th Street. Police learnt the identity of the driver and were allowed entry into the residence and located the female driver. A 25yr old Shoal Lake, Mb woman was arrested for Flight from Police, Public Mischief, Endorsed Warrant of Arrest for Theft Under and Breach of Recognizance (condition to abstain alcohol/drug) and lodge at BCC for Court in the morning.

Teen charged after allegedly taking wallet, using stolen credit cards

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release An ongoing investigation from August 17th reported that someone had entered a vehicle parked at a residence and had taken a wallet containing credit cards, debit cards and other assorted pieces of identification. The complainant has been in touch with the bank and the credit cards were used at a business in the 700 block of 10th Street. Police identified the suspect through the business security video using the credit cards. On September 3rd Police attended to the suspect’s residence, a 15yr old Brandon male youth was located and arrested for Theft Under, Fraud use of a Credit Card, Breach of Probation and Breach of Undertaking x2. The male was lodged at BCC for court September 4th. Police continue to investigate.

Water Rescue on Rivers Lake

At around 5:50 Sunday evening, Rivers/Daly Fire Department was dispatched to a water rescue in the north-east corner of Lake Whatopanah, also known as Rivers Lake. Upon arrival, it was determined that a fishing boat had gotten hung up on rocks in the north-east corner of the lake, and the occupants were unable to free themselves from the rocks. 2 rescue boats, one from Rivers/Daly Fire Department and the other from Whitehead Fire Department, were deployed from Abe Wiebe Boat Launch and started rescue efforts. 4 occupants were found in the boat, and were transported in the 2 boats back to shore, where they were assessed by EMS. According to Rivers/Daly Fire Chief Richard Brown, “We got the call at around 5:50 Sunday night, and we had our water rescue team in the water by 6:05. The patients were located at about 6:15, and we had everybody off the water by 7:15. It was a successful rescue, with a nice outcome. I’m very proud of our team, along with all of the other resources who responded to aid us.” Multiple agencies responded and converged on the area to help with rescue efforts. Rivers/Daly Fire Department, Whitehead Fire Water Rescue Team, Minnedosa Fire Water Rescue Team, Rapid City Fire Department Medical First Responder, along with RCMP, Rivers Police Service and Rivers EMS responded to the call.  Photos by: Liam Pattison Photography

Motorcycle, camper trailer each reported stolen in two separate incidents

Source:  Brandon Police Service Media Release Theft of a Motorcycle: On Sunday afternoon, Police received a report that a motorcycle had been stolen from a residence in 600 block of 9th Street. The theft occurred sometime between Friday night and was discovered missing around 3:00pm on Sunday afternoon. The motorcycle is a 2018 Suzuki DR-Z400SM black, yellow decals, gold rims and Manitoba license plate 8FC39. Police continue to investigate. Theft of Camper Trailer: On Sunday evening, Police received a report that a camper trailer had been stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Lorne Avenue. The theft occurred prior to 1:00pm on Sunday. The camper trailer is 1974 Triple E 10 bowler style camper with Manitoba license plate Y063R. Still under investigation.
