Former Dep. Chief Garry Bell receives Mary Beth Dolin Meritorious Fire Service Medal from Minister Blaine Pedersen. This award was established in 1988 to honour individual achievement in the Manitoba Fire Service and is awarded to those who have demonstrated excellence, leadership or outstanding achievement, or to those whose contributions have substantially enhanced the safety of the people of Manitoba. Mary Beth Dolin was a dedicated educator, school administrator and served as the Minister of Labour from 1981 to 1985; the award is named for Dolin to commemorate her spirit of public service, which exemplified the unselfish dedication to duty prized within the fire service.

Rosser Ward Meeting on tap for this evening

Kris Dejarlais, Rosser Ward Councillor, will be hosting a ward meeting tonight at the Park Community Centre to discuss a variety of topics.  The meeting runs from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.  All residents within the City of Brandon's Rosser Ward are invited to attend. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the following items: 8th Street Bridge Replacement Sidewalk Snow Clearing Downtown Snow Removal Bear Clan CPTED update Nuisance By-law Amendments 9th Street Closure Other Ward or City Issues Members of Administration will be in attendance.

Brandon Firefighters Charity Fund used book sale

The Brandon Firefighters Charity Fund, in cooperation with Vincent Massey Youth Revolution group, will be raising funds for the Westman area by hosting a used book sale.  With approximately 30,000 books available in the book sale there is bound to be some great reading material for every enthusiast.  Books can be purchased for only $15 per bag.  Bring in a standard size reusable shopping bag and fill it up or use one of their Co-Op donated bags. Pair of Brandonites charged with possession of meth

Brandon Police Service Media Release At 7:09 AM, police received a report from a business located in the 300 blk of 10th St. that a male had just broken into the business and stole a cash box containing a small quantity of cash. The male was seen fleeing the business east bound on Lorne Ave. The Police Service Dog Unit attended and tracked to a residence in the 300 blk of 6th St. A 41-year-old male resident was checked as he left the residence. The male was found in possession of a set of brass knuckles and a small quantity of methamphetamine. He was released on a promise To Appear in court on December 14, charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Possession of Methamphetamine. A 30-year-old Brandon female was also checked after leaving the residence. She was also found to be in possession of a small quantity of methamphetamine. She was also arrested and later released on a Promise to Appear in court on December 14, charged with Possession of Methamphetamine

Another day, another accident, this time in the 800 block of Frederick Street. User submitted photos.  No other details available at this time. October 8, 2017 Update:  Brandon Police Service Media Release At 9:37 PM, police received a call that vehicle had driven onto the front yard of a residence in the 800 blk of Frederick St. Police attended and arrested the 25-year-old male driver. He provided samples of his breath in excess of the legal limit. He was later released on a Promise to Appear in court on October 12, charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over .08.
