Brandon Fire Kept Busy with 2 Structure Fires Tuesday Night

Brandon's emergency services were kept busy yesterday evening with at least 2 structure fires, amongst other emergency calls. Brandon Fire & Emergency Services were called to a home on Dominion Way in Brandon's west end for a fire in a crawl space/basement around 7:40pm. Firefighters arrived and were able to extinguish the fire quickly. Multiple fans needed to be set up to help clear the home of smoke. Firefighter/Paramedics were working in heat that felt like 35°C at the time with the intense humidity. Later in the evening, at around 9:40pm both fire halls responded urgently to a home in Brentwood Trailer Courts that had been struck by lightning (according to witnesses/neighbours) and was on fire. Crews arrived and were able to quickly extinguish that fire while working in thunderstorm conditions. Extensive overhaul was needed to ensure the fire hadn't spread throughout the walls/floor of the home. There were thankfully no injuries at either of the fires according to fire and police officials.

Samoyed Summer at Section 6

One thing Manitoba is not famous for is being "dog friendly". Over the past weekend in Minneapolis we saw various lounges and patios that welcomed and encouraged people to bring their dogs. Section 6 Brewing Co at 1126 Princess Ave is trying to change that image of being very dog friendly. Carmen Fisher told BDNMB.CA that we love seeing people bring their dogs and we put out water bowls for them. To our knowledge Section 6 is the only patio that allows dogs in Brandon. Pepsi and Bode, the two featured Samoyed dogs, enjoyed all the smells and attention they had from customers and staff. Check out Section 6 Brewing https://section6brewing.ca/
