UFC announces Winnipeg date for December

Today the UFC released a series of new events for their 4th quarter with Winnipeg being named among one of the 12 cities listed to receive a fight card before the end of December. The Winnipeg show is being listed as a FOX UFC Fight Night inside the MTS Centre on December 16th. At this time no fights have been announced for the event. This will be the UFC's 2nd trip to Winnipeg, the last one being UFC 161 in 2013. Stay tuned to the UFC for ticket on sale information.

Matt Calvert Charity Shootout to donate significant funds to the Brandon Regional Health Foundation

On behalf of Matt & Courtney Calvert, and everyone on the shootout committee, we wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for your support behind this inaugural event, and the Palliative Care Unit of Brandon. Elmes signs in ECHL

Brandon’s Josh Elmes, a 6’2” defenceman, has agreed to play with the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush for the 2017-18 season.  Rapid City will be coached this season by former Brandon Wheat King Danny Tetrault. Earlier today BDNMB.CA was informed by Tetrault that he expects their hockey club will be bigger, tougher and have additional skill this season, due to an affiliation agreement with the Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild, Elmes, who played last year in the SPHL with Evansville, was a fan favorite and is excited for the future with Rapid City. Round-Robin Central Energy 12 Manitoba Thunder 3 The Energy kept their gold medal hopes alive with a decisive victory over the Thunder.  Anni Conrad had three singles and scored a pair of runs for the Energy while Zoey Pearce had four hits and three runs scored and Quinn McLaren added three hits and three runs. Westman Magic 8 Eastman Wildcats 0 Cassie Crerear had two hits, a stolen base and two runs scored as the Magic evened their record and kept their medal hopes alive.  Jasmine Horwood also scored a pair of runs for Westman. Manitoba Thunder 12 Interlake Phillies 0 The Thunder scored in four of the five innings played to beat the Phillies.  Dani Hawryluk scored three runs for the Thunder while Taha Bartel had three hits, including a triple. Winnipeg Lightning 2 Westman Magic 1 The Lightning secured a medal with a tight victory in a game that took just over an hour to complete.  The Lightning scored both of their runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to erase a 1-0 deficit.  Kiera Magarall had an RBI single and scored the winning run on a wild-pitch for Lightning. Lian Flett singled twice and scored the lone run for the Magic. Manitoba Angels 4 Westman Magic 1 Denise Hammersley singled, doubled and scored a pair of runs for the Angels.  Cassie Crearer doubled and scored the Magic’s lone run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Central Energy 7 Westman Magic 2 The host team suffered their third straight loss, falling behind 5-0 by the 3rd inning.  Abbi Conrad and Zoey Pearce had two hits and scored two runs apiece for the Energy.
