Cartwright Twins capture Senior AA Provincial title

The Cartwright Twins received a masterful pitching performance from Anthony Friesen Sunday en route to capturing the Senior AA Provincial title. The Twins, who are a member of the Border Baseball league, upended the South West Baseball League's Rivers Comets 1-0 in Sunday afternoons pitchers duel at Nutrient Field in Rivers. Cartright advanced to Sunday's championship tilt after defeating the Boissevain Centennials 2-0 earlier in the day, while Rivers required extra innings in their semi-final game to topple the Winkler Whips 6-5. Eight teams participated over the weekend which also included the Waymor Agencies Home Run Derby on Friday evening. Manny Lanigua, of Winkler, was the derby winner with 5 deep shots on 10 swings. What a weekend! Big thanks to all the fans for making the trip up to Rivers as well as the @riverscomets for hosting an A+ event. Another thanks has to go out to the @PmPilots for lending us their ace. 14 innings, 0 earned runs on Sunday. Laughable. #twinstwinstwins pic.twitter.com/PKz9ulY5et— Cartwright Twins (@cartwrightwins) August 8, 2022

Boschman wins PPV debut, describes experience as wild

Brandon's Braedan Boschman won his PPV debut (@FiteTV) Saturday night at Ice Wars II, described simply as ‘Prize Fighting on Ice’. Boschman, who tipped the scales at 302lbs during Friday's weigh-in, defeated his 310lb opponent 'Huckbleberry' James Redmond. Their bout was just one of many held at the River Cree Casino in Alberta. Boschman told bdnmb.ca that he tried to get into the organization's inaugural PPV event but it was full and that he lucked out and managed to land a spot on their second event. The 27-year old obviously had a few concerns going into such an event including worrying about the size and experience of some real big boys. "Insane and wild sums it up" Boschman said about the entire experience. Boschman wanted to thank everyone for all the incredible support he received and indicated that he for sure would do it again if the opportunity arose. Weigh in / Press Conference photo dump! ????
