Wheat Kings Burzan, Schneider named to Team WHL roster

Brandon Wheat Kings Luka Burzan and Braden Schneider were both named to the Team WHL roster which will compete against Team Russia at the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series on November 13 and 14 in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. Burzan, a forward, was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in the 6th round (#171 overall) in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. NHL Central Scouting has identified Schneider on its ‘Players to Watch’ list as a top-ranked prospect for the 2020 NHL Draft. Brandon's Calen Addison was also named to the team. He is currently a member of the Lethbridge Hurricanes and was a draft pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2018.

North Central Hockey League loses 3 teams, adds 2 new

The North Central Hockey League (NCHL) will feature eight teams this season including new additions in Langenburg and Waywayseecappo. Langenburg had previously played in the Triangle Hockey League in Saskatchewan. Each of the eight teams will play a 20 game season and the league will be divided into two divisions (North and South). Games are expected to begin in the first week of November. Three teams who played in the league last season will not return in 2019/20 including the Foxwarren Falcons, the Rivers Jets, and the Shoal Lake Eagles.

Wheat Kings deal defensemen, Glennie retires

The Brandon Wheat Kings have traded defensemen Zach Wytinck to the Regina Pats in exchange for a fifth round draft choice in the 2022 WHL Bantam Draft. Jiri Patera, captain Connor Gutenberg and the recently acquired Dom Schmiemann will serve as the team's three overage players this season. Former Wheat King Scott Glennie has joined the 2112 Hockey Group where he will be working as both a player recruiter and a one-on-one video coach for the company's younger clients and pro-players looking to improve their skills. Glennie recently retired from the game following two surgeries (foot) that left him unable to play the game at the pro level. He played four seasons in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2007-2011. The right-winger then moved on to play with the Texas Stars in the American Hockey League (AHL) where he won a Calder Cup.

Brandon’s Cayden Glover named to U-16 Team Manitoba

Brandon’s Cayden Glover has been named to the U-16 (Male) Team Manitoba roster that will be competing at the 2019 WHL Cup in Calgary, Alberta later this month. The 5'11", 162 forward is currently a member of the Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings. Last season he notched 66 points (47g,19a) in 36 games with the Brandon AAA Bantam Wheat Kings. Glover was then selected by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the second round of the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft. Also named to the team were Conor Geekie, who was drafted 2nd overall by Winnipeg Ice in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft and Tyson Zimmer, who was selected 6th overall in the same draft by the Brandon Wheat Kings. CWE returns to Brandon featuring WCW Legend Juventud Guerrera

CWE wrestling returns to Brandon on Wednesday, November 27th. Lucha Libre Cruiserweight Juventud Guerrera headlines the card being held at Houstons Country Roadhouse. Guerrera is best known for his appearances in Extreme Championship Wrestling, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). The Brandon event will be the company's 22nd show on their "The Juice Is On The Loose Tour" which also includes stops in Saskatchewan, Alberta, BC, and Ontario. A number of other notable wrestlers are already signed to appear in Brandon including Ring Of Honor Superstar "The Horror King" Vinny Marseglia  and 5x Ring Of Honor Tag Team Champion, IMPACT! Wrestling Superstar "The Zombie Princess" Jimmy Jacobs (pictured). A full wrestling card is expected to be released closer to the show date.
