Handgun and drugs off the street after traffic stop

A 27-year-old was arrested for multiple charges including Assault Peace Officer, Possess Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking, and Possess a Restricted Weapon amongst other weapons related charges.

Police initiated a traffic stop where the accused was an occupant of the vehicle. During a search incident to arrest the accused slapped away the hands of the officer and attempted to flee. A short foot pursuit was initiated followed by a Taser deployment and arrest.

Located within the vehicle was a handgun with a loaded magazine and 30 grams of cocaine.

The male will appear in court on these charges later today.
