Laine Nichols, who grew-up playing minor hockey in Brandon for many years, has committed to the Western Trinity University Women’s Hockey program for the 2021/22 season. The AA Atom Brandon Wheat Kings (Boys), AA Minor Pee-Wee Brandon Wheat Kings (Boys), and the AA Major Pee-Wee Brandon Wheat Kings (Boys) are among the teams Nichols played for prior to joining the female AAA Midget Yellowhead Chiefs in 2015/16. She spent two seasons patrolling the blue line for the Chiefs before moving to Winnipeg with her family and joining the St. Mary’s Academy Flames. This year marks her third season in a Flames jersey. In 29 games to date the talented blue-liner has picked up 11 points and 56 penalty minutes. She is also the team’s captain.
