The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee
Vincent Massey High School is ready to bring hilarity to the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium this November when they share the award-winning, comical musical The 25 h Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Brandon audiences for the first time.
The story chronicles six quirky middle school students as they compete for the coveted spelling bee championship of their lifetime. Their personal stories, outrageous thoughts, and eccentric personalities make their trials and tribulations throughout the bee a joy to witness. This fast paced, Tony Award-winning comedy features a memorable original score by William Finn and a side-splitting book by Rachel Sheinkin. The 2S h Annual Putnam County SReIIing Bee is based on the improvised play conceived by Rebecca Feldmen, and still incorporates improvisational elements because members of the audience are included in each performance.
The ensemble musical features many of Vincent Massey High School’s newest stars: introducing Felix Gallardo Rogue as Chip Tolentino, Natalie Sluis as Logainne SchwartzandGrubenniere, Alborz Khakbazan as Leaf Coneybear, Kobe Lim as William Barfee, Mia Visser as Marcy Park, and Hannah Van Santen as Olive Ostrovsky. The show also features veterans Matthew Rust as Mr. Ostrovsky, Jazmin Fraser Davie as Rona Perretti, and Aliah Pasaporte as Razz Mahoney.
The production team includes returnees Nancy Pitcairn and Raven Willoughby as Co-Directors, Linda Kearns (Dance Images) as Choreographer, Karen Rogowsky as Costume Designer and presents Laura Jonasson as the new Vocal Director, Meaghan Walker as the new Pit Band Director and Michelle Harvey as our new Producer.
Vincent Massey High School’s production of The 25 h Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee takes place on November 10 and 11th at 7:30pm with a matinee performance on November 11th at 2:00pm, at the WMCA. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors.
