Harvest on the Hill, great beer and amazing food

Harvest on the Hill has Hotel & Restaurant Management students, from Assiniboine Community College, joining forces with Culinary Arts, Horticultural Production and Sustainable Food Systems students to present beers from countries from around the world, highlighting locally produced beer, accompanied by delectable locally grown food pairings—so local, they've never left the North Hill Campus. As part of the festival, students present their selections and engage the tasting audience with their knowledge.  You'll get a chance to taste a wide variety of dishes with beer pairings, each one more delicious than the next. This year's event goes Thursday, October the 12th from 6-9pm.  Tickets for the event went on sale on September the 21st. For additional information on the event, please click here.

James Barker Band Game on Tour making stop at The 40

The 40, located inside the Trails West Motor Inn, is extremely excited to announce that they are apart of the James Barker Band Game on Tour with Meghan Patrick and special guest JoJo Mason.  The James Barker Band is a Canadian Country Group formed in Ontario best known for their Top 10 singles “Lawn Chair Lazy” and “Just Sayin”. The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Vincent Massey High School is ready to bring hilarity to the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium this November when they share the award-winning, comical musical The 25 h Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee with Brandon audiences for the first time. The story chronicles six quirky middle school students as they compete for the coveted spelling bee championship of their lifetime. Their personal stories, outrageous thoughts, and eccentric personalities make their trials and tribulations throughout the bee a joy to witness. This fast paced, Tony Award-winning comedy features a memorable original score by William Finn and a side-splitting book by Rachel Sheinkin. The 2S h Annual Putnam County SReIIing Bee is based on the improvised play conceived by Rebecca Feldmen, and still incorporates improvisational elements because members of the audience are included in each performance. The ensemble musical features many of Vincent Massey High School’s newest stars: introducing Felix Gallardo Rogue as Chip Tolentino, Natalie Sluis as Logainne SchwartzandGrubenniere, Alborz Khakbazan as Leaf Coneybear, Kobe Lim as William Barfee, Mia Visser as Marcy Park, and Hannah Van Santen as Olive Ostrovsky. The show also features veterans Matthew Rust as Mr. Ostrovsky, Jazmin Fraser Davie as Rona Perretti, and Aliah Pasaporte as Razz Mahoney. The production team includes returnees Nancy Pitcairn and Raven Willoughby as Co-Directors, Linda Kearns (Dance Images) as Choreographer, Karen Rogowsky as Costume Designer and presents Laura Jonasson as the new Vocal Director, Meaghan Walker as the new Pit Band Director and Michelle Harvey as our new Producer. Vincent Massey High School’s production of The 25 h Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee takes place on November 10 and 11th at 7:30pm with a matinee performance on November 11th at 2:00pm, at the WMCA. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Don’t miss your chance to get tickets which are now available at the WMCA office nr online at www.wmca.ca. First ever Food Truck Warz event was a complete success

Close to 20,000 of our closest friends joined us for our first ever Food Truck Warz on September 16th & 17th in Brandon.  Despite the rain on Saturday, everyone enjoyed the food and fun provided by the 18 vendors onsite.  Special thanks to CKLQ and STARFM for the additional media coverage and to Westman Communications Group (WCGTV) for the video on our event posted below.  Stay tuned to www.foodtruckwarz.com for information on the second edition of Food Truck Warz coming in 2018.
