The 1203 Princess Ave location (3,000 sq feet) is approximately 1,000 sq feet larger than the original address on Park Ave East. He took possession of the building on July 1 and renovations are currently underway in anticipation of the July 25th re-opening. Kellington Floors, The Flooring Professionals

One of the goals and mandates of BDNMB.CA is to always provide our readers in Brandon and Westman with information about locally owned and operated businesses. Today is no exception, as we profile Kellington Floors in Brandon. The first thing you notice walking into the new location at 1003-13th Street (near the Keystone Centre) is that you can't buy power tools, fridges, or a stove...all they sell is flooring, cabinetry, and flooring related products. Additionally, you can find some very unique and interesting area rugs that are normally difficult to find. Since 1984, Randy and Terry Kellington have operated a locally owned family business that will do everything for your flooring requirements: from your initial order, to shipping the product to the client, to arranging the actual installation process.  Having over 37 years of service and knowledge is difficult to find today. Kellington's faced some adversity in 2005 when the location they operated at 1608 Park Ave (Lady of the Lake as well) burned to the ground. This forced them to quickly try and find a new home and they were able to secure their old store location on 6th street. Terry Kellington feels that COVID 19 did effect business in a few different ways. Some orders were cancelled and other purchases were pushed back as people simply couldn't afford to pay for what they ordered at the time. The installation process also had to overcome a hurdle or two as clients didn't want strangers in their home during COVID-19. Orders and business are now slowly returning to what was normal. We asked Dustin Kellington about how the company embraces technology and the future of the industry and he feels they are a bit old school and new school. Some people don't use smart phones and Facebook so they still do cater to them via other forms of traditional marketing. Mirage Hardwood, Rosehill Cabinets, beautiful area rugs, and cork flooring are some of what they can offer you when making your flooring and home decoration choices. Stop by to visit them at their show room in Brandon (1003-13th Street), or call for an estimate at your location.  Web address: https://kellingtonfloors.com/

Ultimate Baby Bags – Everything You Need For Your New Arrival

Some of the greatest inventions in life are born out of necessity, and sometimes the necessities needed when you are born, turn into a great invention. Jennifer Murray and Patricia McGarvey have combined their personal experiences with some old family traditions to launch Èires’ Leanaí (meaning Ireland’s babies), and their Ultimate Baby Bag. The trendy, fashion-conscious backpacks come in a variety of colours. They are stocked with baby’s first clothing, diapers, wipes, toiletries for the new mom, breast pads, sanitary pads, and disposable underwear. “We are both Irish moms, and both have been fortunate to welcome babies in Ireland and Canada,” said Murray. “It’s an Irish tradition that the grandmother would pack the hospital bag for their daughter.  Unfortunately, we didn’t have that luxury here in Canada as both our moms still reside in Ireland. We thought there must be a company that provides a bag. We searched online, and none were found… that's when Èires’ Leanaí was born.” The two friends have ten children combined between the two of them (Jennifer-3, Patricia-7) and have no shortage of experience when it comes to childbirth. The unique business model is the only one of its kind available online and local reviews have been excellent. “Our clients tell us that our Ultimate Bags take so much pressure away,” added Murray.  “Lots of women have said they wish our bags were available when they were having their babies. We feel they really are the perfect gift. We know how expensive it is to have babies, and we want to keep the cost down for people.” While the online business is still in its infancy, Murray and McGarvey feel that with the Covid-19 pandemic has increased the demand for products online. The pair began pushing the product just prior to Christmas and are thrilled with the response from Westman and the surrounding area. “We both have babies and other children at home, so we understand the juggling act it can be at home. With many stores closing when Covid-19 struck, there was definitely a big demand for our bags. It may have felt like the world was shutting down, but the babies still came!” You can check out the Èires’ Leanaí line of Ultimate Baby Bags and unstocked diaper bags at www.ultimatebabybags.ca.
