The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE”: Christopher HOLWINKO FOR Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. On March 8th, 2023, BPS executed a CDSA warrant for HOLWINKO's residence in Brandon, Mb. A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of large quantities of Cocaine and Methamphetamine along with a loaded firearm and Drug trafficking paraphernalia. A warrant of arrest has been issued for HOLWINKO as his whereabouts are unknown at this time. On January 28th, 2023, in the evening hours a male entered a vehicle in the 700 block of 39th Street Victoria Avenue, and stole a gift cards and a cheque book. The male suspect was captured on video surveillance. Over the years, I have personally got to know and see this young man grow up and try new things and never be scared to try something. Carthy Caswell loves cooking, so hey why not open up a business with all kinds of ideas from cabbage rolls, pasta, tacos, and of course pizza.  However not your standard pizza but Neapolitan which is very common in Europe. Every second Wednesday if time permits Carthy is going to make up something and then deliver it for free to 6 - 8 people. On March 13, 2023 at 11:30 am, police responded to a report of an assault in a residence.  When police arrived at the home, the suspect was surrendering to police. Investigation revealed that the male broke the victim’s bedroom door, jumped on her and threatened to kill her and her dogs while holding a pair of scissors.  He also broke her cell phone. The victim also disclosed another assault, which occurred in the fall of 2022 in which the suspect fractured her wrist during an assault. The 26-year-old male suspect was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Mischief to Property X2 and Utter Threats X2.

On March 12, 2023, police received a report of a theft from a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue.  A male suspect filled two bags full of merchandise and left the store without paying for the items.  Police located the 31-year-old male in the area and arrested him for Theft under $5,000.  He was later released on an Appearance Notice and he is scheduled to appear in court in May.

The City of Brandon’s Underground Utilities Section is advising that a planned maintenance project will take place at the 34th Street booster station on March 14 to 15, 2023. The routine maintenance could cause portions of the City’s water distribution system to experience discolored water or have a slight loss of water pressure. If discoloured water is drawn while City crews are completing maintenance, residents are encouraged to run their taps until the water becomes clear. If discoloured water continues to be drawn from the tap more than a few hours after flushing, please contact the City of Brandon Underground Utilities Section during business hours at 204-729-2137.
