A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Brandon & surrounding area. It says we could see a severe thunderstorm develop late this afternoon and this evening. "Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail and torrential rain," Environment Canada said in its alert. Environment Canada says these storms are capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail which can damage property or cause an injury. You’re being asked to continue to monitor forecasts and alerts issued by the organization.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 3:15 am on Saturday morning, the resident of an apartment in the 500 block of Louise Ave reported a man had just broke down the door of the apartment and she and her boyfriend were hiding inside. Officers set up around the area and the Police Service Dog unit conducted a search. The K9 officer and his partner located a male nearby and he was arrested for the break and enter. He was lodged at BCC and will appear in court on Saturday.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Possess Meth – CDSA Shortly after 2:00 pm, while members were on patrol in the downtown area, they came across a female who was wanted on an arrest warrant for Breach of Recognizance. The female was also on conditions which she was found to be in breach of. Once arrested, police located a small amount of meth on the female. The 40-year-old female was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court this morning on charges of Breach of Recognizance X 4 and Possess Meth. Possess Meth – CDSA At approximately 5:40 pm, police received a tip on the location of a 39-year-old female who was highlighted in the Brandon Sun as being wanted. Police located the female and arrested her. Upon searching her members located a small amount of Meth. She was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court this morning on charges of Breach of Recognizance and Possess meth.

Brandon School Division’s Senior Administration and Board of Trustees are pleased to advise that Manitoba Education & Training has approved a request for the Neelin High School Off Campus Program to become an official stand-alone school, now known as “Brandon School Division - Off Campus”. The official naming process will begin in September 2019, as outlined in Administrative Procedure 7035 – Naming and Renaming of Division Facilities. “It is very exciting news that Brandon School Division has received authorization from the province for the Off Campus Program to become its own school. The program has expanded dramatically over the years due to the dedication of the staff and the students, and it is only fitting that it become a school in its own right. The announcement of this development at the Off Campus Graduation Ceremony last Friday, June 21st, was met with enthusiastic applause from this year’s graduating class of sixty students.” Dr. Linda Ross, Chair Brandon School Division Board of Trustees The Off Campus Program is an initiative of the Brandon School Division that opened its doors in September of 2007. Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approximately 11:30 pm, police received a report of an impaired driver. The vehicle was eventually located near Hwy #1 and 18th street N. The driver, a 23-year-old male, was arrested and provided samples of his breath that were over the legal limit. He was released to a family member; however, his actions became dangerous as he attempted to jump from their vehicle while it was in motion. The family member sought help from police in keeping him safe. He was lodged and will be released once sober. He will be appearing in court on July 4, 2019.
