Police: Man arrested after attempting to flee in stolen vehicle

On Sunday afternoon at approximately 1:00pm, Police received information of a suspended male driver was operating a motor vehicle southbound in the 300 block of 18th Street North. Police attended to the area and upon seeing the Police, the suspect vehicle turned east onto McGregor Avenue and led Police on a pursuit that travelled back onto the 18th Street Daley Overpass and east on Pacific Avenue under the 18th Street Daley Overpass. The suspect vehicle lost control and the two suspects were apprehended inside the vehicle. The speeds were less than 70 kms and traffic was very light. Police had learned, during the pursuit, that the vehicle was stolen from Winnipeg. The male passenger was found to have in his possession a folding knife contrary to his Probation Order.
The male driver, a 24yr old Winnipeg man was arrested for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle, Flight Whlie Pursued and Drive While Disqualified. The male was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to appear in Court on February 18th.
The male passenger, a 28yr old Rivers, Mb man was arrested for Possession of Property Otained by Crime and Fail to Comply with Probation Order. The male was released to appear in Court on March 18th.
