Suspect in two thefts from a liquor store located, in possession of meth at time of arrest

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release An 29 year old Brandon man was arrested on Saturday afternoon and charged with Theft Under $5000 x 2, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Breach of an Undertaking. An officer was investigating two thefts from a liquor store in the previous two weeks and identified the suspect through surveillance video. The officer located the suspect in the 600 block of 10th St on Saturday afternoon and as he was stopping him to arrest him, observed him throw away several small baggies. The baggies were recovered and contained methamphetamine. The male was arrested and released to appear in court in September.

Two arrested in downtown incident involving bear spray, CO2 pellet pistol

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 2:15 am on Sunday morning, officers were in the area of 10th St and Rosser Ave on another matter. One of the officers observed a male riding a bicycles a short distance away. As the male on the bike passed two other men, one of the men pointed a hand gun at him. The male on the bicycle then sprayed the two men with bear spray and rode off. All three men were located in the area. The male on the bicycle, a 19 year old from Winnipeg, was arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional Center. He will be charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon and Breach of a Weapons Prohibiton order and will appear in court in September. The male who pointed the firearm was located in possession of a CO2 pellet pistol and was arrested. He was lodged and will be released to appear in court in September on charges of Possession of a Weapon and Use of a Firearm during the Commission of an Offence.

Man allegedly threatens ex-girlfriend, her family

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 8 pm on Friday night, a female attended the Brandon Police Service and complained that her ex-boyfriend had pointed a gun at her and threatened her and her family. The 28-year-old Brandon male was located at his residence and arrested without incident. He was charged with Utter Threats, Point a Firearm, Possess a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Possess a Weapon contrary to a Court Order. The “firearm” was located and discovered to be a pellet pistol closely resembling a real firearm. The male was lodged at BCC for court in the morning.

Two arrested after stolen credit allegedly used in 41 seperate transactions

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On May 21, 2019, police received a report of a stolen credit card that was used fraudulently between May 17 and May 20, 2019. The owner of the card wasn’t sure exactly how the suspects got ahold of it, but in the short time they possessed it they were able to use it for approximately $10,000. The card was used at 22 businesses and ATM’s in Brandon, some of which had video surveillance. There were 41 separate transactions made on the card. Two individuals were identified as having used the card and both were arrested on Thursday afternoon. Members of Brandon Police Service Major Crimes Section executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence and seized a number of the purchases made including a BBQ, cell phones, clothes, perfume and other household items. A 54-year-old female and a 26-year-old male were arrested. They will be appearing in court on August 29, 2019.

Police terminate pursuit, driver speeds reach as high as 150 km/h on the Hwy

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approximately 7:30 pm, police attempted to initiate a vehicle stop in the 4000 block of Van Horne Ave as it had been observed driving erratically. The driver did not stop, and continued to drive west, eventually heading out of Brandon on Hwy 1A. The driver’s speeds reached as high as 80 km/h within the residential areas, and 150 km/h on the Hwy. In an attempt to avoid recognition, the driver had tilted the seat back, and was hiding behind the window frame. The pursuit was terminated just beyond the city limits and the RCMP were notified. This matter is still under investigation.
