Caswell, McCallum named to 2021 Male U16 team roster

Brandon's Clarke Caswell and Ethan McCallum were both recently announced to the roster for the 2021 Male U16 Program of Excellence. Caswell, a forward, is currently playing with the Brandon Wheat Kings in the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League.. He has compiled 9 points in 4 games to date. McCallum, a goaltender, is a member of the Notre Dame Hounds (U16 Prep) in the CSSHL. Along with their teammates, the duo will compete at the 2021 Western Hockey League (WHL) Cup from Wednesday October 20, 2021 to Sunday October 24, 2021 in Red Deer, Alberta. Josh Fluker (Boissevain) and Darren Hunt (Hartney) were also named to the team. The defensemen are also teammates this season on the Southwest Cougars (MU18 AAA).

Searching for 2021-2022 Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporters

Westoba Credit Union (WCU) and the Brandon Wheat Kings have once again joined forces to find their next 2021-2022 Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporters. The contest starts on Tuesday, September 28th, and is open to all Manitoba hockey fans between the  ages of five to twelve. To enter, Wheat King Fans are encouraged to submit a video of their interviewing skills to show us why they are the next Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporter. This contest gives young hockey lovers a chance to enter to win some great prizes, and the opportunity to meet and interview players and staff from the Brandon Wheat Kings. Interviews will be featured on Westoba Credit Union’s YouTube Channel, wheatkings.com, on the Video  Scoreboard at several Brandon home games in 2021-22 as well as all over social media! “We are proud to partner with the Brandon Wheat Kings to bring back the Westoba Wheat Kings Jr. Reporter after last season was cancelled as a result of the pandemic,” says Jim Rediger, President and Chief Executive Officer of WCU. “This is our sixth year of this contest, and it is an incredible opportunity for young hockey fans to get involved in their community, showcase their passion for the sport and meet their favourite players.” Contest deadline is Friday, October 29th, 2021. Fans are encouraged to visit westoba.com for more information on the contest and to submit their unique and creative videos. All contest participants are asked to follow all COVID-19 health regulations when conducting their interviews. The two winners will be announced on November 17, 2021, and make their 2021-2022 season debuts later in the season. “The Westoba Credit Union Jr. Reporter contest is one of my favorite events of the year,” said Branden Crowe, Wheat Kings Director of Strategic Marketing and Radio Broadcaster. “Seeing the kids interact with the players, asking fun questions and learning more about the team is a lot of fun. Westman Magic win U16, U14 provincial softball titles

Sunday afternoon, the Westman Magic won the U16 AAA provincial softball final 8-2 over the Smitty's Terminators in a game played at the Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex. Earlier in the day in semi-final action, the team won a close 1-0 victory over the WPG Lightning. Six teams took part over the three days, with action getting underway Friday evening. Meanwhile in Friedensfeld at the Friedensfeld Softball Diamonds, the U14 AAA Westman Magic team (pictured below) also took home a provincial title of their own. The Magic toppled the Eastman Wildcats 6-4 in Sunday's championship game.
