Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust

On June 21st at 9:10 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted involving an SUV in the back lane of the 700 block of 10th Street. The registered owner and driver, a 33-year-old male, was found to be in possession of unstamped cigarettes that were in plain view. A further search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a sealed 765-gram bag of methamphetamine located under the front passenger seat. Additionally, approximately 2 grams of crack cocaine, divided into three equal packages, were located, along with a cellphone and $135 in cash. A small folding knife was also found tucked under the driver’s seat.

The vehicle was seized pursuant to The Criminal Property Forfeiture Act and towed.

The male is bound by an Undertaking requiring him to reside at an address in Sioux Valley; however, he admitted that he resides in Winnipeg.

The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $37,500, based on a value of $50 per gram.

The male was brought to Brandon Police Service where he was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of June 22nd, 2026. Charges include Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Meth, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Crack Cocaine, Possession of Proceeds of Crime, Possession of a Weapon, and Failure to Comply Undertaking. The male is also served with a Contravention Notice for possession of fewer than 25 units of unmarked tobacco contrary to the Tobacco Tax Act.
