Brandon’s McCaig Named Head Coach and GM of Flin Flon Bombers

Former Brandon Wheat Kings U18 AAA player Cole McCaig has been named the new Head Coach and General Manager of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Flin Flon Bombers, returning to an organization where he previously enjoyed success as both a player and coach.

The Brandon product brings a wealth of junior hockey experience to his new role. McCaig played three seasons with the Bombers from 2011 to 2014 before moving on to Marian University. Following his playing career, he returned to Flin Flon in 2018, serving seven seasons as the club’s Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager, helping guide the Bombers through one of the most successful stretches in franchise history.

Most recently, McCaig gained additional experience with the Brooks Bandits of the BCHL before accepting the opportunity to return to Flin Flon. His combination of coaching, recruiting, and player development made him the ideal candidate to lead the Bombers into their next chapter.

In announcing the hiring, the Bombers described McCaig as a natural choice to lead the organization, citing his leadership, commitment to excellence, and strong relationships with players. The organization also noted his deep ties to the community and confidence that he will continue the club’s winning tradition.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be named the next Head Coach & General Manager for the Flin Flon Bombers,” McCaig said in the team’s announcement. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to return to Flin Flon. This is a special organization and community that means a lot to my family and I. I look forward to working with this group of talented players and building upon the winning culture in place.”

McCaig takes over the Bombers after the club captured the 2025-26 SJHL championship, and will now be tasked with building on that success while continuing the organization’s long-standing commitment to developing players and competing for championships.
